Course Overview

If you’ve got your sights set on an electrical career, then this full-time course is the perfect introduction for you.
 
Designed to prepare you for an electrical apprenticeship, you'll gain practical skills that will get you work-ready.
 
You'll learn about a wide range of electrical components. Topics you'll cover include workplace skills and safety, DC and AC fundamentals, supply systems and more. Plus, the course will count towards some apprenticeship theory units.
 
The course will also provide the opportunity to explore other avenues such as domestic appliance engineering. You'll learn about aspects of appliance testing that will count towards your registration. 
 
Taught by experienced tutors, you'll also enjoy developing your skills in our well-equipped labs.

Course Entry Information

Entry criteria

You must:

  • Gain NCEA Level 1 in English and Maths

Standard Entry Criteria

Admission, entry, selection, and enrolment into programmes will be in accordance with the Academic Regulations and/or, where approved, specific programme regulations.

For courses at levels 1-3, domestic and international students will be required to:

Provide evidence of ability to complete academic requirements.

English language requirements

Level 3 certificate IELTS General or Academic score of 5 with no band score lower than 5 or completed New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 3 with an endorsement of either General, Workplace or Academic, or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined by NZQA.
