When you’re studying you want to be sure your children are in safe, capable hands. We have excellent childcare services available on site at our Windermere Campus in Tauranga, and Mokoia Campus in Rotorua. Come in for a look. You’ll be impressed with the helpful, caring staff, and their commitment to a quality early education for your little ones.
There are plenty of childcare centers close to Taupo campus, and childcare options may be available at some of our regional campuses by arrangement with the campus manager.
Childcare Centre, Windermere Campus
The Childcare Centre at Windermere caters for children aged 6 months to 5 years.
The children enjoy separate, age-appropriate areas which accommodate their individual learning and development needs.
The Centre teachers are all qualified professionals, committed to providing an environment where children are equipped with the skills, wisdom and attitude they need to make a valued contribution to society.
The Centre primarily caters for children of students and staff on campus, but some sessional spaces are available for 3 and 4-year-old children from the community.
In 2015 the Education Review Office report gave the Centre (at that time known as Bay of Plenty Polytechnic Early Childhood Education Centre) the highest recommendation of being ‘very well placed’ to promote positive learning outcomes for children stating:
“The majority of teachers are long serving, which provides continuity of care for children within each learning centre. All teaching staff are qualified. High teacher/child ratios support the delivery of a stimulating and bicultural curriculum in a nurturing and caring environment, while promoting a passion for lifelong learning."
"A virtues-based programme is implemented throughout the centre in conjunction with the early childhood curriculum, Te Whāriki. This programme is designed to support children’s holistic development and promotes characteristics that enable them to “effectively and positively contribute within society”.
The next review by the Education Review Office will be carried out in 2019.
To apply for a space for your child please fill out the enrolment form (pdf, 380kb) and return it to the Centre. Early booking is essential to secure a place prior to the start of your course.
