Would you like to become a supervisor and lead a team on-site? Get the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in a construction supervisor role. 

Choose to specialise in the strand that suits you best. Options include residential building, commercial construction-related trades or the construction-related manufacturing strand.

This part-time course has a blended delivery. You'll learn through online activities, day release classes and/or night classes – meaning you can learn while working. 

Whether you’re working in a supervisor role already, or you are aiming to move in to one, get the skills you need to lead!

Course Entry Information

Entry criteria

Students need to be employed in the construction industry in order to be assessed against practical unit standards. Students must be in a role where they either already have, or are able to take on, supervisory responsibilities.

The following prerequisites also apply:

  • students must hold a qualification in Carpentry at Level 4, OR
  • a Trade Certificate in a building or construction trade OR have completed an approved apprenticeship, OR
  • have equivalent knowledge and skills.

Students must have achieved NCEA Level 2, OR equivalent academic achievement.

Students may also be granted entry to the programme at the discretion of the Executive Dean on a case-by-case basis

Standard Entry Criteria

Admission, entry, selection, and enrolment into programmes will be in accordance with the Academic Regulations and/or, where approved, specific programme regulations.

English language requirements

Level 5 certificate or diploma IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 or completed NZ Certificate in English Language Level 4 with the Academic Endorsement or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined by NZQA.
