Help Logging On

Logging On For the First Time

You'll find your username, email and password in the enrolment email sent to you 30 days before your course start date. If you've lost it, or didn't receive it, please contact the Information Centre ([email protected]) or Library ([email protected]) or call us on 0800 86 46 46.

If You're on Campus

The first time you access a computer on campus you’ll be asked to change your default password. You must do this before connecting to the Wi-Fi.

Steps to log in:

  1. Using a student computer (not a staff one) log on with your username and initial default password. You'll find these in the email sent to you before you started.
  2. You’ll be asked to change your password. Your new password must be 12 characters or longer and must be complex – think of it as a “passphrase.”

The password contains characters from THREE of the following categories:

  • Uppercase
  • Lowercase
  • Numbers
  • Special Characters

If You're Not on Campus

If you’re off campus and logging on from a personal laptop, cellphone, iPad, computer etc. go to either hub.toiohomai.ac.nz or moodle.toiohomai.ac.nz and log on with your new email address and password.

The first time you log on to moodle or The Hub you’ll be asked to change your password (if you haven’t already).

Worried About Losing or Forgetting your Password?

It's a good idea to set up your self-service password reset in advance, to make sure you can access your work and submit your assignments.

Logging On For Returning Students

  1. Type your student email and current password and follow the prompts. If your password has expired then you’ll be asked to change it.

  2. The login screen will be displayed and you must log on again with your email address and new password.

Need help choosing a good password?

  • Your student account password needs to be at least 12 characters with a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers and special characters
  • Don’t use any part of your own name, date of birth or phone number
  • Don’t use common words e.g. Password, Thursday, Toi, ToiOhomai
  • Do use a unique password – not the same password you use for your bank or social media!

Need help remembering?

Try using a passphrase made up of unrelated words that are easy for you to remember, but hard for hackers or hacking scripts to guess. E.g. RedSunNightSky

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

When logging in to Toi Ohomai systems off campus, Toi Ohomai uses Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to ensure that the person logging in is you. Please register for MFA using your own mobile phone number so that the call or code sent by MFA for verification purposes, is sent to you and no one else.
