Course Overview

Are you working in the engineering industry or have you completed our CAD Level 3 course and want to take your CAD skills to the next level? Then this part time course is ideal for you.

You'll study this course both on-campus and online, with classes held in the evenings, giving you the flexibility to fit your studies in with other commitments.

Using the specialist CAD software Solidworks, you'll produce high-end model work such as advanced 2D engineering drawings and complex 3D engineering models. You’ll also prepare a CAD working environment and perform tolerance calculations for drawings.

Engineering firms are after your skills and not only will you make a significant contribution to the business, you’ll also set yourself with plenty of career pathways to choose from.

Please note: SolidWorks is a Windows based program and can only be installed on a PC or Laptop running a Windows operating system. It is incompatible with devices running other operating systems.

Upon successfully completing the requirements you'll receive the award of:

  • Engineering CAD 2 (Level 4) 

This training scheme comprises of NZQA credit for units 2411 and 20804.

Course Entry Information

Entry criteria

  • Open entry, however, selection criteria will be based on applicants who are currently working in in the Engineering or associated industries OR, who can demonstrate equivalent skills and knowledge.
     

Standard Entry Criteria

Admission, entry, selection, and enrolment into programmes will be in accordance with the Academic Regulations and/or, where approved, specific programme regulations.

English language requirements

Level 4 certificate IELTS General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 or completed New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 3 with an endorsement of either General, Workplace or Academic, or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined by NZQA.
