Toi Ohomai Students Bake A Batch Of Goodwill For Christmas
Friday, 07 Dec 2018
The Toi Ohomai Level 4 Culinary Arts students have baked a batch of goodwill for the Taupō community.
The class joined forces with the Taupō Community Food Bank to support and add a little festive joy to the lives of struggling families. Students worked hard over a two-week period to bake, glaze and decorate a total of 120 delicious and beautifully packaged Christmas cakes.
Each cake was wrapped with packaging kindly donated by Jasco Distributing and donated to the Food Bank to add to their Christmas food hampers that go out to families each year.
Jason Lewis, Toi Ohomai Culinary Arts Tutor, says that it was an amazing accomplishment for the students to be able to pull off, especially given the fact that they were doing it alongside running the student café on campus.
“It was an exercise the students really enjoyed and we are very proud of them,” said Jason.
“We even had a taste tester and I can report that the cakes are delicious. It’s great to be able to give students the opportunity to give back to our community using the skills they have learnt at Toi Ohomai.”
