A nursing student with a passion for hauora Māori-led care has been named as the recipient for Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and Whānau Āwhina Plunket’s Mere Harper and Ria Tikini Memorial Scholarship.

Due to a push for the industry to be better regulated, Toi Ohomai established level 4 and 5 Sterilising Technology courses, the first cohorts of which officially graduated in Rotorua last week.  

A chance opportunity five years ago to attend a careers event with a friend opened the door for 21-year-old Katelyn London to become a Registered Nurse.
