Play, Stay and Pay in the Bay

Mount MaunganuiKoshla Renton and Cath Fraser are the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic (Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology) representatives in a collaborative research project, led by the University of Waikato and including team members from Waiariki Institute of Technology (Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology).

In response to a request from Tourism Bay of Plenty, the team is investigating the influencers of visiting friends and relatives’ use of infrastructure, facilities and leisure activities in the Bay of Plenty.

The team investigated how visiting friends and relatives and their hosts might be encouraged to directly increase the use of pay-for and free attractions, strengthen the visitor economy and indirectly provide revenue to the public purse for their share of usage of local infrastructure, facilities and services.
