Micro-dosing Wearable Resistance Exercise During the Working Day to Benefit Health and Physical Function

It is well known that prolonged sitting which occurs in many professional workplaces has negative health effects. This study aimed to pilot a workplace intervention strategy using wearable resistance that is worn during four to five micro-breaks (~5mins duration) of programmed dynamic movements, spread throughout the working day.

The effect of the intervention was measured through strength, power, balance and cardiovascular fitness assessments. The ultimate outcome of this pilot was to determine the efficacy and utility of such a programme in terms of workplace health, and if positive, the single subject pilot will be taken into a randomised control design in future research.
