Financial Management of Small Business in the Bay of Plenty

The purpose of the research is to enhance understanding of small business management practices in the Bay of Plenty region, and strengthen Toi Ohomai relationships with local organisations.

This project relates to the researcher’s teaching practice and curriculum development – a new finance major for the Bachelor of Applied Management (BAM) and Graduate Diploma of Applied Management (GDAM) programmes have been developed including two business finance papers.

Quantitative data is being collected through an online survey of local small businesses in order to understand their current financial management practices.

This information will provide an opportunity for indirect marketing of the finance major of the BAM targeted at small business owners/managers with respondents offered an introductory business finance workshop.
