Toi Ohomai Study Award
The Toi Ohomai Study Award is intended to be an incentive for people from the Bay of Plenty and South Waikato to enrol and achieve a vocational qualification, with the aim of minimising financial barriers for second chance learners.
These awards are for applicants with previous work experience and/or an evident career aspiration.
The personal and financial circumstances of applicants will also be considered.
Eligibility
- Applicants will need to have applied and met the entry criteria for their chosen course of study at the time of applying for this scholarship
- Applications are open to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only
- Preference will be given to applications residing in the Toi Ohomai rohe/region (Bay of Plenty and the South Waikato)
- Successful applicants at the time of scholarship payment must be fully enrolled in a full-time one-year (minimum) course and, attending and progressing well academically
Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate they have:
- The necessary motivation to complete a vocational qualification
- The ability to meet the academic demands of the course they have chosen
Value
15 awards of $1,000 for full-time study and ten awards of $500 for part-time study are available.
Each award provides a one-off course fee reduction (or, in the case of a fees free situation, a direct payment to the recipient) at the commencement of their Toi Ohomai certificate, diploma or degree course.
