New Partnership Provides Offshore Study Options
Thursday, 21 Jan 2021
Overseas students now have a new way to study with Toi Ohomai thanks to a new offshore delivery agreement with Guangdong Polytechnic of Industry and Commerce (GDPIC).
Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology Chief Executive Dr Leon Fourie this week signed an agreement with GDPIC, enabling the Institute to deliver certificate and diploma courses offshore at their campus in Guangdong, China.
GDPIC, established in 1957, is a provincial first-class higher education vocational college, with three campuses and a focus on industry connections and vocational training.
Toi Ohomai and GDPIC will plan joint programme delivery, research collaboration, and staff and student exchange with a view to establish a joint campus facility in the future.
Initially, Toi Ohomai will deliver online offshore English (NZCEL) and diploma-level studies to GDPIC students in programme areas that meet the needs of both institutions, with a strong focus on employment outcomes and future degree pathways.
The first intake of up to 100 students will start with online offshore courses in September 2021.
Toi Ohomai Head of International Peter Richardson says benefits of the agreement include sharing resources and knowledge, brand recognition overseas, and joint research opportunities.
Due to COVID 19, the agreement was signed via a Zoom meeting.
