Rachel Nash

Rachel Nash embodies our value of whānaungatanga and her passion and support of her students is key to the success they achieve during their studies and beyond.  

Rachel believes that relationships and supportive networks form the foundations of professional success, and she works hard to pass this wisdom on to her students, in theory and in practice. By supporting them through their studies, job search and employment, Rachel is a shining star that her students look up to long after they have graduated.

Rachel’s philosophy has helped many of her students achieve great success, in particular Harepaora Ngaheu, who was awarded the 2018 Ahuwhenua Young Māori Farmer Award.  

“I'm privileged to be able to teach many inspirational students like Harepaora, and keep in touch with them long after they have graduated to ensure that they're happy and well-supported in their work."

“In the end, I try to emphasis and show my students the importance of meaningful relationships, work ethics and other skills that are essential to becoming employable. The courses we offer are ideal for them to learn those ‘softer’ skills, as we place students in actual working environments, where they form real connections and networks and get to see how the theory translates into the real world.”

Rachel started her own journey with Toi Ohomai (formerly Waiariki) as a student in 1996, which helped her realise the importance of whānaungatanga and the positive impact a strong and encouraging support system can have on students when they are studying, starting their new jobs and advancing their careers.
