Tutor

Faculty of Health, Education and Environment

Daniel has a strong interest in sustainable fisheries and teaches aquaculture and marine surveying papers within the marine studies diploma. He also coordinates the PADI Dive Instructors course in which he finds to be one of the most rewarding courses he's involved with at Toi Ohomai.

He holds a Graduate Diploma in Marine Studies, a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Science and is currently working towards a doctorate with a research focus on the effectiveness of students and citizens in coral reef fish surveys.

Before joining Toi Ohomai, Daniel was a windsurfing coach and diving guide overseas, then a dolphin swimming guide in the Bay area and draws on these experiences when teaching marine tourism and coral reef ecology.

"I believe that I have one of the best jobs and love taking students out on field trips. Doing something you love is pretty awesome!" Daniel says.
