Waipā Campus – TITC (Timber Industry Training Centre) is the only dedicated training facility in the country to operate a working sawmill and wood manufacturing plant. It’s a five minute drive from Mokoia Campus.
Waipā Campus is well known in the forestry and timber industries, having provided training in wood processing and sawmilling for many years.
The campus has a process flow of timber from the training sawmill to the high temperature kilns and onto timber machining and treating. This enables integrated saw milling, saw doctoring, drying, preservation, and timber machining training to occur on site.
The Campus is also home to a range of primary industries courses; agriculture, apiculture, horticulture, forestry, conservation operations, and animal care.
Future provision planned to be offered from the Waipā Campus includes pest operations, transport, logistics, maritime, and other courses in response to stakeholder needs.
Our horticulture students cultivate their green thumbs in the on-site vegetable gardens and tunnel house. Agriculture students learn practical fencing, chainsaw skills and use the purpose-built all-terrain vehicle (ATV) course. Conservation students learn a range of skills on site and completing project work. Animal Care students work with a range of animals housed on site.
