Riley Claxton
Senior Academic Staff Member
Faculty of Business, Design and Service Industries
Riley mainly teaches the graphic design courses at Toi Ohomai and specialises in teaching techniques and design skills for Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. He finds this very rewarding and looks forward to meeting students and helping them to reach their creative goals.
Riley is also a bit of an all-rounder and has taught many different classes from self-representation, community projects, history, cultural context and the level 7 studio exhibition paper.
When Riley is not engaged in teaching, he takes on various photography and graphic design jobs for people in his local community. He often works with other local artists, musicians and fashion designers.
Currently, Riley is working on a photography art book and exhibition based on touristic and geothermal aspects of Rotorua.
Riley tends to focus on things that are overlooked and create ambiguous or funny images from everyday things.
If there is any time left over after this, he likes to create t-shirt prints, laser cut artworks, the odd quirky painting and strum the guitar!
