New Zealand's tourism and hospitality industry is expected to be worth $41 billion per annum by 2025. Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology recently hosted the first ever Bay of Plenty Tourism and Hospitality Summit on our Mokoia Campus in Rotorua.

The event was well-attended by industry experts, regional leaders, secondary and tertiary educators.

Students were also presented with the opportunity to interact and network with prospective employers and leaders in the industry such as Brent Park, owner of Volcanic Hills Winery at Rotorua, Michelle Templer, CEO of Rotorua Economic Development and Kristin Dunne, CEO of Tourism Bay of Plenty.

The summit provided a platform for industry leaders to advise on the challenges and opportunities for the region and showcased the entrepreneurial journeys of several successful businesses.

This was followed by a series of workshops focused on strategies to promote career opportunities in the sector and develop a sustainable and skilled workforce for the future.
