Brand new to Tauranga, the New Zealand Certificate in Conservation (Operations) starts this July!
If you’re passionate about the environment and love working outside – this course could be a great start to your career.
The year-long programme is extremely hands on – you’ll learn about ecology and conservation management planning right through to how to drive a quad bike and light utility vehicle.
Other areas of study include: health and safety, teamwork, chainsaw safety, outdoor risk management, agrichemical use and pest control.
Once you’ve graduated you'll be qualified to work as a ranger in the conservation, environmental, or parks and recreation sectors, as well as roles within regional councils. Or you could go onto higher level study on the Diploma of Environmental Management and the Bachelor of Science (BSc) with a major in Biological Sciences (delivered in partnership with the University of Waikato).
